Proceedings of a special commission in Surreys recount the June 8 riot at the Ship alehouse Long-lane. Several defendants including Inbert Miller Jordan Fletcher Lovell Collins Palmer Quintin and others are named for leading the disturbance and aiding in the destruction of Welch’s dwelling, furniture, and cellar. Witnesses describe beer, looting, and violence as the mob demolished furniture, pulled down wainscot and chimney supports, and scattered goods while resisting attempts to disperse.
