Morcar and Matilda in Northumberland Siege Romance

A fragmentary theatrical narrative describes Morcar revolting against William the Conqueror, capturing Matilda and Edwin, and a staged escape plot. Interwoven are plotting, jealousy, and a dramatic rescue as Morcar seeks peace, with a comic secondary plot of a treasure misadventure ending in a celebratory quintet. The piece features Garrick’s prologue and a lively cast including Harriet, Jenny, Gripe, Hanks, and Lively.
