An extended, mixed dispatch reports military mobilization in Sardinia with force estimates and sermons about forthcoming campaigns. It notes French and Dutch financial moves, naval blockades, and preparations for war. It also lists court appointments, marriages, deaths, and local crimes, including seizures and punishments.
A royal notice records that the Lord Lieutenant seeks qualified militiamen to serve as officers in Salop County Militia. At a meeting at the Talbot Inn the qualified names were reviewed and orders issued for officers and commissioners to appear for duty on the stated date and place.
An old newspaper fragment describes Exeter coaches and waggons schedules from Friday Street Exeter to Plymouth Falmouth and Cornwall. It lists fares from two shillings five pence to sixteen pounds seven pence per ton and notes pickup points at White Bear Inn and Albemarle House with connections to St James's and Piccadilly.
