British privateer captures ships and storms at sea

London reports a Swedish ship laden with mats was captured by the Charming Sally privateer at Whitehaven. French frigates take two vessels from Venice to London and Driften to Almeria. The Grand Louis sinks with all aboard near Norway in a heavy gale. The Lady Agatha is wrecked near Hambrow but crew saved. Other vessels reach the Cape under convoy while some sail without it. A Ferret engagement with the Phoenix privateer ends in Ferret victory with casualties on both sides. East India Company sues Raffeltman’s commander for running down the London. Court notices include promotions and marriages local to Oxfordshire and Wisbech.
