Daring disguised robbery at Fyfeld near Marlborough
A nine man gang in disguises entered the Liney home at Fyfeld, Berkshire, holding a pistol to Mr Liney’s head and forcing Mrs Liney to reveal where money lay. They stole cash, tea spoons, buckles from Mrs Liney’s shoes and the maid’s, fired a room fire, and shared bread and beer before telling Mrs Liney to warn others that "George" had been there. They ordered the couple to bed and warned they would kill them if they stirred.
