Birmingham July 27 1778 announces a series of religious and secular performances on September 2 3 and 4 for St Pauls Chapel and the General Hospital. At St Philips Church morning and the New Theatre in the evening grand concerts feature Handel’s Da Capo works and other capital pieces with noted vocalists and instrumentalists. Performers include Mrs Mahon Mrs Salmon Messry Norris Mathews Prive Salmon Crammer Corvetto Park Ashley Storacci and a celebrated women’s chorus from Lanure. The schedule spans Oratorios at St Philips and theatre renditions in New-Tireet with orchestral and vocal supreme pieces.
A late 18th century chronicle records the death of the Duke of Ancaster, with his life detailed as a court official and military figure. It traces his marriages, heirs including Peregrine and Robert, and roles from Lord Lieutenant to Master of the Horse, ending with dispatches from Newfoundland and Admiralty orders amid wartime activity.
