Trial of the Prisoner for a June Robbery and Illness Defense

A prisoner faced a jury with testimony about a gold watch stolen from a room where he was held and later found. The watch had a gold chain removed and matched another item Mr. Seale wore. Witnesses described the prisoner’s illness with head pains in early June and a series of visits by a jeweller, surgeon, and landlord corroborating his condition while the robbery occurred. The horse tied to Limehouse was identified as brought to a nearby inn on June 3, with accounts of the prisoner’s movements and a judge’s charge leading to a guilty verdict and the eviction of defense evidence.
