Vienna reports that Count Philippi with six horse regiments and artillery advanced on Bathaw, demanding surrender. The Bathaw capitulated on July 25, Seckendorff then seized the town on July 28, finding 150 brass cannons and large artillery stores. The garrison received terms similar to Belade in a river town 50 miles from the Marave, 1158 miles east of Belgrade. Prince Lewis of Baden had earlier defeated 80,000 Turks nearby in 1689 and captured the town after a short siege.
