Washington era dispatch details British offers and Congress reply
Extensive excerpt from the 1778 York Town proceedings shows Henry Laurens and other Congress members discussing a peace commission with Britain, the reading of a letter from George Johnstone and George Johnstone’s papers, and the decision to refuse a passport to Dr Ferguson. The document includes Laurens’ reply and Congress resolutions urging vigilance against enemy correspondence. It also notes a formal exchange with Britain and mentions privateers Hancock and Ballon.
