French and Spanish Forces Reach Nice After River Crossing
The letter from an officer dated April 2 describes French and Spanish horse fording the river without opposition, taking Pot, and occupying hills near Nice. It notes limited progress, with three quarters of a league advanced into the enemy country, while Sardinia concentrates troops in intrenchments between Nice and Villafranca. Generals debate strategy as Austrians and British forces mobilize in Europe.
