Osaka Opened to British Subjects January First 1868
Reports from Yokohama note Sir Harry Parkes and Staff arriving in Osaka with the Argus and surveying ships. The Japanese government formally announces opening Osaka Hiogo Yedo and a western port to British subjects on January 1 1868 under the Yedo treaty provisions.
