France and China peace treaty signed at Tientsin ends long talks
Telegram reports the May 11 start of negotiations between M Patenoitre and Li Hung-chang concluded on the ninth inst with France gaining assurance that China will abandon political ties with Annam and accept the Fournier Treaty terms. Paris confirms the signature to the Chamber and Senate.
