The sixth China mail under the new contract arrived on its due date. The next French mail from Hong Kong to April 27 is due, carrying 800 bales of silk and 1,800 packages of goods from Canton. Telegrams reach Hong Kong via Galle to May 1 and Shanghai to May 8 via Kiachta.
Complaints allege postal delays disrupted P and O service with mail handout stretched from early morning to 3 PM and letters arriving in scattered dribbles.
