Telegrams from Suez dated the 4th inst report the P and O mails from Hong Kong to Nov 1 due 13th May arriving in London about the 14th. The French mail is delayed by the P and O steamer accident at Calcutta causing the next line mail due 13th inst to reach around the 18th or 20th.
A correspondent reviews Japan's political tremors surrounding the Tycoon and Chosin, noting the Mikado as mediator. It describes government actions after Chosin’s aggression, Simonoseki's attack, and plans for a British Legation amid Yedo reforms with Sir Harry Parkes influencing the move.
