In Wardair the enemy retreated to water as the Mullahs forces, including Dolba hants Mishtains Gallas and Ogadens and a large Webbe Shebeyli contingent of Odoner, grew to an estimated 2000 to 3000 mounted and 80000 spearmen. Several officers were killed from the King's African Rifles and allied services. Somaliland volunteers from Kaffrarian rifles with Maxim guns offer for service.

The Queen left Buckingham Palace yesterday to visit the Prince and Princess of Wales at Marlborough House. She traveled to Sandringham after two in the afternoon, with Sir Dighton Probyn and Miss Knollys. Queen Alexandra arrived at Wolferton and Sandringham, accompanied by Miss Knollys and Probyn, while Prince Charles of Denmark joined Princess Charles at Sandringham.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are due to arrive at Eaton on May 7 with no Chester races planned. They will travel to Wrexham the next day to unveil a Welsh Fusiliers memorial in China and South Africa and return to Eaton before departing for London on Saturday. Their children arrived at Marlborough House from Sandringham yesterday led by Mr H P Hansell.
The Royal yacht Osborne with Princess Victoria aboard arrived at Dartmouth from Plymouth. The Princess, with the Hon Derek Keppel and his wife and yacht officers, took a cycle ride to a village about three miles away.
The Leigh Lancashire Friendly Co operative Society granted 202 toward relief of Bethesda quarry workers. Other cooperative societies in South and East Lancashire also contributed grants to aid the relief effort.
