Saskatchewan leads the prairie provinces in grain production with a projected wheat crop around 124 million bushels and an overall yield near 18 bushels per acre. Manitoba shows 60.6 million wheat bushels amid heat and drought effects. Alberta trails with variable oats and barley outputs.
At noon yesterday, Miss Florence Gertrude Ebb wed Edwin J. Jeacrett M D of Lloydminster at the bride’s parents home. Rev P G Ross officiated under an arch of flowers with Blanche Webb as bridesmaid and Major Hugh Hill as best man. The couple departed at 2 15 for a short honeymoon and will reside in Lloydminster.
A polio court inquiry in Alberta heard evidence of an abandoned two week old infant found in a hotel sitting room wrapped in a shawl. The infant, in a neglected condition, was taken to hospital and made a ward of the department. Mrs Louise Yeardsley was arrested and preliminary hearing held. Police investigation ongoing.
A 1915 Kerrobert Citizen letter urged publishing mandatory legal notices in the Gazette and asked readers to pressure local MP Geo H Watson to seek a compromise. Editor H N Sternexson notes districts would lose funds, proposing using Gazette revenue for local business. He asks readers to lobby their member before the next session.
The provincial plan to require all tax arrears land sales be advertised in the Saskatchewan Gazette faces opposition. Kerrobert would pay 150 to 200 dollars for Gazette adverts, a burden critics say benefits few and should be local papers like Citizen in Kerrobert or Mercury in Major and other towns. They condemn compulsory Gazette advertising as money wasted.

A British squadron shelled Belgian coastal positions. Jellicoe commands over 3000 ships. A liner, Allan Line Hesperian, torpedoed off Ireland with Canadian wounded aboard. many lives lost. Austro-Hungarian advance nears Brest Litovsk. city said to be obliterated. French and British aircraft bomb Saarbrucken factories, barracks and stations, destroying railway and injuring recruits.
The Alberta two day fair was a clear financial success with a small positive balance after fencing costs. Directors planned further improvements once a promised Dominion grant arrives and noted preparations for tent accommodation and more entries. Donations from town and local firms were acknowledged with thanks.

He laments reluctance at Paynton and hopes for a reunion of remaining Lloydminster Maidstone Paynton volunteers while pledging loyalty to the unit and its name.
A 1914 British report summarizes Baron Beyens Belgium’s response to Germany’s demand for passage through Belgium. Jagow claimed life or death for Germany in defending against France and Russia, Beyens refused, stressing Belgian neutrality and England as a guarantor.
A circular from Western Canada farmers’ groups urges delaying bulk selling of the crop. Attendees warned that quick mass sales could depress prices, proposing farmers store grain on farms for eight to ten months and banks offer credit against grain to ease liabilities. The signatories include leaders from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the United Farmers organizations.
