Special Session of Rural Council Forms Gopher Poisoning and Resigns

A Rural Municipal Council special meeting on March 30 presided by Reeve Hebron approved a bylaw requiring all poison bait to be used under the town clerk’s oversight within the May deadline and discussed poisoning zones. The secretary reported ten seed grain applications granted and councillor Cameron resigned division No 6, with nominations set for April 9 to fill the vacancy. Multiple accounts were approved including wolf bounty and road work payments to local contractors.

Passing of Mrs Cuthbertson in Obie Funeral at LavertyGu

Belle Cuthbertson widow of John Cuthbertson died last Thursday after a peaceful illness. Services were held at Laverty United Church with Rev R C Pollock in charge. She was born in Obie about 40 years ago and leaves four children Mrs Martin Nelawn, Jobin, Reyynwomd, and a daughter married to a local resident. The family is grieving as they plan the funeral in Florida.

Red Cross Tag Day Set For April 20

The Liberty Med Crow Society held a regular meeting to plan a tag day on Saturday April 20. Officers reported on issuing supplies and the group named Matigansewyst Comber Den can and Dickson to supervise town tagging.

Easter Promotion Results At Liberty School

Examinations for the Easter promotion list students by grade. Grade 8 includes Lizzie Currie Mary Wright and Charlotte Cronkhite. Grade 7 lists Tovlma Duncan Mary Nixon and Alden Dumler conditionally.
