SEPTEMBER CITY OF LETHBRIDGE BY-LAW NO. 292 A By-Law of the City of Lethbridge Provide for the Borrowing Upon Debentures the Sums Nec- essary to Pay for the Extensions Made to the Electrical System Power Plant in the City of Lethbridge, and lor Making Further Extensions to the Said Electrical Light System. WHEREAS it has been estimated that it will be necessary to'Sorrow amounts for the different works as hereinafter set forth. AND WHEREAS it is necessary to borrow on debentures such sums as. i .re required to pay for the compie- i tibn of such works, making due alltm- auce for discount on the sale of deben- tures bearing a reasonable rate of In- terest and the necessary expenses in connection -with tbe issue and sale thereof, WHEREAS it is expedient, to borrow the several sums required for (ho purposes hereinafter mentioned on the credit pf the .City of Lethbndgo and to issue debentures therefor pay- able in 20 years from the date of is- sue thereof hearing interest at the rate of 5 per centum per annum par- able half yearly, AND WHEREAS it is desirable that the By-Laws for the several purposes hereinafter mentioned may be incor- porated in one by-law, AND WHEREAS the amount of the loan required for each of the works hereinafter mentioned and the amounts required to be raised annual- ly to pay the Interest and provide a sinking fund for the payment of the debt herein set forth in the following propositions: Proposition "A" (1) For moneys already expended in the extension of the electrical light system in the City of Lethbridge. (2) The amount ot the loan requir- ed to pay for such work, (3) The sum to be raised annually to pay the interest (4) The sum to be raised annually to provide a sinking fund to pay the debt, Total amount to be raised annually, Proposition "B" (1) For. the purpose of paying for the extension of an ash flue at the electrical power., house already con- structed. (2) The amount of loan required to pay for the same, JLOOO.OO. (3) The sum to be raised annually to pay the interest, (4) The sum to be raised annually to provide-a sinHng fund the debt, .Total amount to be raised annually, Proposition "C" 11} For the purpose of extending the electrical system in the City of Lethbridge. The Council may borrow on the credit of the City of Lethbridje tie sum or sums of money required for any or all'of the propositions herein- before referred to, namely: .Proposition "A" the sum of .Proposition "B" the sum of Proposition "C" the sum of 1-2.' That debentures ot the City of Letibridge shall be Issued for. tie sinn or sums to be borrowed in one consecutive issue in such sums as may be deemed expedient and shall have coupons attached thereto for tie payment of interest and said deben- tire's anall all bear tie same .date and shall be dated and issued within two jears after the, final passing of this bylaw, and be payable at the espir: ation of twenty (20) jears from tie dato of the issue (hereof Such deben- tures'may be expressed either in Can- adian currency or'sterling money or both in currency and sterling money of equivalent value as prov.ded by the Currency Act, as the Council may by resolution direct; and shall bear inter- est at the rate of Cue per centum per annum payable ialf yearly, and to both principal and interest may be made parable at the Bank of Montreal in London, England- or at he chief office of the said bank in the City of Toronto, .the City of Montreal ir the City of Lethbridfe in the Dom- Pioa of Canada or at the chief office of the said bank in the City of New York in the State ot New York in the United States of America, or any other place or places in Canada. Great Brit- ain or the United States as the Council nay by resolution direct, and such de- lenturea may contain any clause pro- ividlng tor the registration thereof by the LethbridEO City Charter. 3 That Uie said debentures shall Se sealed -with tho seal of the City of Lethbridge and signed by the Mayor and the City Clerk, and coupons shall he signed by the City Clerk, and the iiiHofares of the coupons be Ithographed or engraved. 4 In addition to all other amounts, here shall be levied and collected in ach year for twenty (20) years during he currency ot the said debentures 311 all the rateable property of the City it Lethbridge by special rate or rates iuffiflient therefor, the following sums or tie paying of the interest on and or forming a sinking fund for the debt created in respect of each ot the different propositions respectively: Proposition sum of .uall be': raised annually to pay the nterest.and the sura of shall raised- annually to provide a sink- ng hind to pay the debt.' Tiis by-law shall take effect on he day of the final paising thereof. 8. The votes of the iurgesses duly qualified to vote on this by-law shall IB taken on the 17th day of October U> 1916, at the fonowlng places in the City of Lethbridge between the loars of 9.00 o'clock iu the forenoon and 8.00 o'clock in the afternoon, namely- (a) For that portion of the City lying .Norti of the Canadian Pacific Railway at the Gymnasium at tie corner of Thirteenth Street and Fourth Avenue North by H. Dawson, who is appointed Deputy Returning Officer to the votes. (b) For that portion of the City lying South of the Canadian Pacific Railway at the Central School on Ninti Street South by D.
