Ottawa reports Canadians obtained almost twice as many building permits in the first eight months as in 1945. Permits for 32,040 new dwellings were issued to September, up from 16,363, valued at 287,361,578, a 16 percent rise. August permits show increases in value and number, with 2,?3?9,?276,?709 in 1945.
