Meat rationing returns to Canada with coupons required for about 113 pounds of weekly meat per person. Prices Board lifts slaughter quotas and rescinds caned meat freeze, making canned meats part of ration. Brown M coupons in ration book five now valid for meat purchases, value one to three pounds per person weekly.
Government officials said no date is set to end meat rationing in the United States. Beef and veal supplies are improving but not enough to lift rationing yet. Officials note seasonal cattle marketings and possible October 1 end date remain undecided between Agriculture and the OPA.
In Jinsen Korea Sept 10 the US army said Nipponese officials would stay in office after surrender ceremonies. Koreans denounced it as a slap in the face while crowds greeted American troops in Seoul. Oslo reports Vidkun Quisling, 58, convicted of high treason for aiding the German occupation. He faces death by a 10 gun firing squad under Norway’s new legal regime, with appeals possible to the Supreme Court. Execution likely within three weeks.
