Ottawa reports Prime Minister Mackenzie King held talks with steel workers amid a 53 day sugar strike. An eight man union delegation from the Steel Company of Canada plant at Hamilton presented their case to Labor Minister Mitchell while officials reviewed positions and viewpoints after earlier discussions with labor department officials. The afternoon conference with King was announced after the morning talks.
Edmonton reports eight year old Joan Ethel Heagile died after entangling in a hanging bridle in G. W. A Trans-Luxury Airlin's two engine transport crashed three miles west of Elko during a transcontinental flight. About 23 people reportedly died, with a two-year-old boy the sole survivor. One male messenger later died in hospital. The crash occurred near 5 am near Elko Airport. The Ruby Mountains lie nearby.
Regina Sask Sept 1 OG Ed ala Francis Blunt a veteran of Roosevelt's Roughriders in the Spanish American War died in hospital after an illness of several months. Born at Charles City he served as a regimental carrier for Roosevelt's Roughriders and later with the Texas Penitentiaries. Blunt is survived by nine wives and 17 children.
