Schuman Pushes Efforts To Form New French Government

In Medicine Hat, city council boosted the hospital grant by 5000, raising yearly city aid to over 518,000. the hospital board will present 1948 deficit estimates by December 15 as a guide for 1949 funding. In Paris, Robert Schuman withdrew his resignation as premier designate, saying President Vincent Auriol had not officially accepted it. Gunman terror grips Jamaica as pastor and kin near death

Kingston reports a gunman’s rampage leaves four dead and seven wounded across the island. Robber Suspect Identified in Vancouver Bank Heist

Gordon Blackie Lyons, 31, charged as one of the exhibitionist bandits in the Broadway Bank of Commerce robbery on Aug. 23. He was arrested in a Lulu Island shack after being identified in a lineup. A 24-year-old waitress, alleged common-law wife, released from custody. Two men in engineers caps fled in a maroon car. Loot later tallied at 10,492 dollars, up from earlier reports of 3,000.
