Ray Cicia US import playing guard for the Montreal Alouettes has been granted a deferment until January by his draft board, according to coach Lew Hayman. The decision accommodates his military service schedule while he remains with the team in the Big Four Football League.
Crow's Nest Pass Lions travel for their first away game of the WCJHL season after scoring 33 goals in four games. They face Moose Jaw Canucks in Moose Jaw then play Regina Pats, Medicine Hat Tigers, and Lethbridge Native Sons on a four game swing. Coach Scotty Munro aims for six points, boasting strong scoring by Vern Pachal Gene Achtymichuk and a deep forward group as fans pack for potential sellouts.
Carl Olsen of Cardston Alta won the saddle bronc riding title at the Boston Garden rodeo on October 27. Laurel Ives, also from Cardston, finished third. Bob Duce of Cardston placed third in the bareback bronc riding contest.

Olson offered a tough defense with a high guard and elbow shield but could not land cleanly as Robinson improved to 118 wins in 121 starts. Olson suffered his fourth defeat in 53 fights.
Murph Chamberlain, coach of Charlottetown Islanders of the Maritime Big Four, said today Johnny Duchak, a 190 pound defenceman from Edmonton, is en route to join the team after being loaned.
Detroit announced Clare Martin will miss two to four weeks with a fractured cheekbone from a collision with Sid Smith of Toronto Wednesday night. The injury occurred in a game against the Maple Leafs.
