Propane Gas Plan Fails To Carry In Vulcan
A town vote on a propane gas franchise failed to reach the two thirds needed. Friday’s tally was 67 in favor and 63 against with one spoiled ballot, about a third of eligible residents voting. Midway Propar ie Company of Lethbridge proposed underground distribution, as Vulcan and nearby towns seek natural gas, though Western Natural Gas deemed it not economically feasible at present.

Betty Jean Weir fourteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Weir died in Macleod hospital Wednesday morning. First World War Veteran Passes in Fernie
David Sangster Fraser a 42 year Fernie resident died in Memorial hospital at age 41. He came to Fernie in 1908 enlisted in the First World War and after armistice joined the provincial public works office until 1946. Born Derncleough Aberdeenshire Scotland educated at Carlisle school he lived in Ceylon before Canada. Survived by sister in England and a niece and nephew in Scotland. funeral at Christ Church with Rev. D W Elsted.

Blood Indian Chief Passes on Blood Reserve Leader
CARDSTON Alberta Blood Indian Chief Cross Child died Saturday at 75. He led the Blood band since 1931, spoke no English, and was a faithful farmer and rancher. Survived by widow, two sons Billie and Gerald, daughter Mrs. Btanding Alone. Funeral at St Pauls chapel on the Blood Reserve Monday at 2 p.m. with Dr H Middleton officiating. Chiefs from other tribes expected in regalia.
