Calgarys new mayor elect Donald Hugh Mackay was born in Lethbridge on March 22 1914. He began in journalism and radio before becoming manager of station CJCJ. He led Calgary Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1946 and 1947 and served as alderman in 1945. He married Mary Elizabeth Quist and has four daughters.
