AIRO, Nov. 21. British tanks met strong German detachments in the desert and destroyed 130 German tanks and armored cars. The communique said the battle, which Churchill demanded for Axis destruction, was joined in earnest yesterday afternoon with the British forcing the enemy to withdraw.
Russians claim a major German push on the Moscow front was repulsed with heavy losses. Tass dispatches say fighting remains intense in central, northern, and southern sectors as German tanks and infantry mass for new attacks on Nov. 18. One Russian unit counter-attacked near K and claimed two villages and 100 enemy soldiers wiped out.
Emil G. Sick of Seattle, president of Associated Breweries, Ltd., said in Edmonton that the vast majority of Americans would back any drastic action President Roosevelt might take to settle U.S. labor difficulties. He spoke during a meeting of directors of Associated Breweries of Canada, Ltd.

London November 21 A H Herbert a member of parliament asked the government to invoke defence rules against any group led by or linked to Dr Frank Buchman founder of the Oxford Group who he said still directed a company on November 15 1941 and whose followers he claimed have dangerous sympathies with the government and the war system.
John Joseph Jones known as Jack Jo London dies at 66 in Leigh on Sea Essex after a month of illness. A stormy Labour MP for Silver Town from 1918 to 1940, he was famed for clashes with the speaker and colorful rebukes including nicknames for ministers. He rose from shop boy to trade union organizer before entering Parliament.
London reports German forces executed twelve Poles after a 36 hour blaze at a Stroze gasoline refinery in southern Poland on October 17. Nazis, unable to identify a single saboteur, shot every fifth detainee from a group of sixty. Five of nineteen Poles tried at Lodz received death sentences for forming armed partisan groups. fourteen others got 8 to 12 year terms.
Alberta Shorthorn Breeders Association named E J C Boake of Acme as president at its annual meeting in Calgary on November 21. Officers include vice president Henry S Trame of Lacombe and directors such as W I Robinson Vermilion and J L Walters Clive. Ten men were wounded in a new outbreak of gunplay near the Edenborn mine operated by Frick Coke in Fayette county. Shots fired from hillsides as United Mine Workers pickets arrived from Washington county. mine operates on a partial basis.
