Police constable among three held for bank holdup

Alberta government surplus nearly 12 million for six months

DMONTON November 19 An overall cash surplus of 11 953 431 on Alberta government operations for the first six months of the 1949 fiscal year was reported by Provincial Auditor C K Huckvale. The gain over last year’s 1 517 117 is due to petroleum and natural gas lease purchases 9 509 648 higher, oil and gas fees 2 218 652 up, oil and gas royalties 961 601 higher and fuel oil tax 1 210 838 up. Liquor board profits remitted to the treasury added 500 000.
