A wind driven prairie fire swept across about 40,000 acres of grass on the Blood Indian reserve Thursday night. It moved eastward for 20 miles from near Standoff toward Fort Whoop-Up, threatening Kenyon Field before being halted by the St. Mary river. Supt. Ralph Ragan called the loss terrible, destroying hayland and 40 tons of baled hay. Over 100 firefighters fought the blaze for more than 10 hours, with flames still burning Friday night.

Four Held in Knife Slaying Father of 3
Lindsay Ontario November 18 four men are held on a murder charge in the knife slaying of Jack Loucks a 37 year old father of three on Lindsay Main Street early today. Loucks was fatally wounded in a throat injury during a scuffle in front of a restaurant. Three bystanders were wounded. Police Chief Arnold Webster said the four men arrested later at a roadblock near Peterborough are in jail on the murder charge. Baby Recovering After Near Burial By Local Children
In Calgary a seven week old boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Bishop, is recovering from shock after two neighbors, aged three and five, nearly buried him alive while playing near the Bishop home. A neighbor, Mrs. Piggins, rescued the infant when she saw movement in the dirt. The child was smeared with paint and the children apparently tried to place him in a paint tin as the mother checked on her other child on the back porch.
