Niddrie Wins Olds by Comfortable Margin

Social Credit held the Olds seat in Alberta's legislature in a dull by election with Fred Niddrie 60, a farmer from Mound, defeating Liberal Martin Winther of Huxley. At 11 a.m. 39 of 41 polls reported Niddrie 2,055 to 1,417, with about 7,500 eligible voters.

Stolen Granum Cattle Traced To Edmonton

RCMP and Western Stock Growers traced cattle stolen from Granum farmer Alex Calderwood to Edmonton. Some cattle had been sold to Canada Packers and others elsewhere. The exact number recovered is unclear. Thieves forged bills of sale and cashed cheques at stockyards. no suspects yet.

RAF veteran James Fosbraey, 28, convicted of manslaughter for the fatal stabbing of his wife June in Napatee during a 1949 snowbank incident. On November 1 Western Usands exhibitors tied for first, second, and third in beef cattle at the Royal Winter Fair. J. W. Cummings of Neepawa Manitoba entered a 475 pound carcass that won first prize. Canadian Couple Faces Murder Charge In U S

In Los Angeles on November 1, Stanley Buckoski, 27, and his wife Jean, 24, faced trial for the February burglary and murder of 83 year old Helen Edmunds. Buckoski, a Winnipeg native, also faced a Toronto murder warrant. The couple waived a jury. Judge Charles W. Pricke would decide. Buckoski pleaded guilty to four burglary counts. Jean Buckoski was alleged to have waited outside as the burglary occurred. Toronto also sought Buckoski for the July 19, 1949 shooting death of Alfred Layng, 37, a schoolteacher, during a bandit chase at a groceteria. his wife and four year old daughter witnessed the incident.
