Two B-29s collide over California crash kills and saves
At midnight two United States air force B-29 Superfortress planes from Spokane collided 26 000 feet above Stockton California. One aircraft exploded and burned while the other crashed in mud. Four of the 22 crew members were saved, seven found dead, eleven missing. Bodies recovered near McDonald Island and Rindge tract as searchers from four counties scoured the Delta region.
