A son born to Princess Elizabeth last night weighs seven pounds six ounces. Buckingham Palace said both mother and baby are in satisfactory condition. Courtiers praised the baby as a lovely bonny lad while church bells rang as news spread through Britain.
Halifax longshoremen announced they would not work any ships diverted from U S ports after the strike. They will finish handling the Mauritania already in port but plan to stop work on Veendam Britannic and Oregon. Charlottetown date November 15. Senator J Alexander Macdonald, aged 75, died today at his home near Cardigan from a heart attack.
