The team at Children's Memorial Hospital described linking the subclavian or innominate artery to improve oxygenation. the method aims to reduce death and improve quality of life for some infants with critical heart defects. The first successful case involved a 22 month old girl, following earlier success at Johns Hopkins by Drs Blalock and Taussig.
