Barrs Faces March 20 Hanging After Conviction
TALGARY, Nov. 6. Lawrence Ross Barrs of Bowness was found guilty Monday of the Valentine Day murder of Frank Bishop Thomas. Barrs was sentenced to be hanged March 20 and will appeal. The crown alleged he killed Thomas with an axe, moved a heavy safe, and set fire to the house while the victim lay dying. He was arrested Feb. 28 after attempting to cash Thomas bonds.
