South Man Meets Death in Carmangay District
Carmangay May 21 A 56 year old farmer rancher Gryille B Smith of the Carmangay Champion district was fatally crushed between a truck and a grain tank trailer while fixing a flat tire on a grain tank trailer. His hired man Gerald Mundy of Black Diamond moved the truck to the side and Smith was crushed as Mundy started the truck. Smith died at the scene on his farm. He leaves widow Clara and children Lorne Arvella and Sharon plus a grandson and several siblings. The community hall in Champion will direct funeral arrangements with Christensen Bros of Lethbridge in charge.
