World Peace Talk and U N Role by Bnai Brith Leader

L H Harrison district grand lodge Bnai Brith president told Lethbridge lodge No 1518 at Beth Israel that military alliances cannot prevent war and urged a strong United Nations. He cited Palestine as a U N test of enforcement capability and praised democracies for communal harmony. He noted Bnai Brith spans 857 men lodges 510 women chapters and 1,400 youth groups in US and Canada. Accompanying him was B I Glass district grand lodge secretary.

Building Boom Continues in Lethbridge

The Lethbridge building boom gathers momentum with 71 new residences approved so far in 1948, up from 54 at this date in 1947. Building permits total 816,444 this year versus 721,690 for the first five months of 1947. issuance amounts to 238,315.

Belgians Coming to District Arrive Saturday Evening

The first contingent of Belgian immigrants is due at the CPR station in Lethbridge on Saturday at 9 10 o clock. The party, largely bound for Raymond and Picture Butte districts, includes about 10 Netherlands families and four Belgian family groups.

Dominion Bank Names New Western Supervisor

Dominion Bank of Winnipeg appoints a new Western Supervisor to replace E. B. Cameron who becomes Western Superintendent at head office. The appointee began banking with The Royal Bank of Scotland Blairgowrie in 1909 and joined The Dominion Bank in 1911 at Vancouver. He has managed several western Canadian branches and most recently served as Western Inspector.
