Parliament Purge Expels Rebels from Labor Party Posts

Canada Land and Irrigation Company sale planned near Medicine Hat

Government officials and irrigation engineers will open a full inquiry into Canada Land and Irrigation Company holdings to prepare a sale agreement for federal consideration. Two RCAF Officers Die In Plane Crash Near Trenton

Roosevelt Jr Wins 20th District Race Against Tammany

Franklin D Roosevelt Jr won the 20th district special election as a Liberal and Four Freedoms candidate after Tammany denied him the Democratic nomination. He secured 41,136 votes in 179 districts, defeating Benjamin H. Shalleck who had the Tammany line with 24,352 votes. Republican William H. McIntyre trailed.

Missing Nordegg firefighters wander into town search continues

In Nordegg Alberta two firefighters Bill Chawron and Andrew Bunno who were separated from 12 colleagues during a blaze trek 24 hours through snow and bush before reappearing in town. A larger 140 man crew had been fighting a fire spotted northeast of Nordegg. A second missing man near Great Slave Lake is reported as Paul Robert of Morinville with an ongoing ground air search coordinated from Hay River.

Candidates Nominated Ahead of Canadian Federal Election

A Canadian Press tally shows 512 candidates nominated across Canada for the forthcoming general election. The Liberals lead with 174 nominations, followed by the Progressive Conservatives at 143, with CCF 17, Social Credit 38, Labor-Progressive 17, six Independents, one Independent Social Credit and one Labor.
