New York May 5 The Tokyo radio announced Admiral Mineichi Koga commander of the Japanese combined fleet had been killed on active duty, less than a year after his predecessor Yamamoto died in similar fashion. Koga died in March while directing operations from an airplane at the front. he was 59 and succeeded by Admiral Soemu Toyoda with Zengo Yoshida taking Yokosuka. Emperor Hirohito posthumously promoted him fleet admiral and awarded top orders. Premier Tojo was noted in Tokyo broadcasts.
