Library plebiscite in Lethbridge favors library extension

Syrian Army Seizes Power in Bloodless Coup
In Damascus at dawn the Syrian army seized power arresting government leaders in a bloodless revolt. Gen Hosny el Zaim said the coup was ordered over attacks on the army and in the house of representatives. Calgary plasterer hanged for killing Calgary grocer
Stanley Donald McLaren, 23, of Calgary and Toronto, was executed for the Sept 24 1943 pistol butt murder of Lom Yum Wing a Calgary grocer during a holdup. The execution followed a coroner’s inquest.
