Extreme right De Gaullists won the largest popular vote in France cantonal elections, with about 5 percent. Communists trailed with 23 percent as a coalition government remained in place under Radical Socialist Premier Henri Queuille. Final council results: De Gaullists 170, Communists 15, government supporters 548. No Paris vote. 723 local legislators chosen, 789 more to be elected next Sunday.
