Alberta Trade and Industry Minister E Manning promised to investigate wage scales at the Golden Fleece Woolen Mills in southern Alberta after Opposition Leader J G Mahaffy cited a complaint from a mill employee. The letter claimed 35 cents an hour was the top rate for 30 workers making army blankets, while 40 cents was the suggested minimum. Mahaffy urged government action as a model for workers. He noted private members could not push increases, but the Treasury could. The minister cautioned that details from the letter could be uncertain, and no names were provided.
