Bevin Plans Direct Western Approach to Moscow on Berlin

London reports Foreign Secretary Bevin told the House of Commons Western allies are considering a direct approach to the Kremlin to resolve the Berlin crisis. Shirley Stevenson Dies in City at 53

Shirley Stevenson died in the city on Wednesday June 30 at age 53. He had resided in Lethbridge for several years and previously lived in Magrath. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Christensen Brothers funeral directors.

Palestine policemen may come to Alberta

A group of former Palestine police may immigrate to Alberta under the provinces British immigration program. Immigration supervisor John Ferguson said London approved the idea and that Alberta will help arrange passages and jobs but not provide financial aid. Lambeth Conference Opens With Global Bishop Assembly

Floor Price For US Wheat Set At $2 A Bushel

Officials of the US agriculture department announced 1948 crop wheat support prices will average about $2 a bushel for grain stored on farms. Higher rates apply at terminals for handling and transportation. Farm price on June 15 averaged $2.11 a bushel, with parity at $2.22. Loans will support prices at not less than 90 percent of parity as of July 1.

Nazi Agent Gets Prison For Life

Robert H. Best, an American newspaper man and radio propagandist for the German Nazis, was sentenced to life imprisonment for treason by Judge Francis J. W. Ford.
