New June being Sunday, Chinatown experienced an- other field day in its deadly and seem ingly never-ending Tong war. Result of rapid shooting and scurry- ing to the rat hole cellars and damp hallways and steep stairways of the strange quarters. One Chinaman is dead, one mortally wounded, one dan- gerously wounded, seven meek and' mysterious almond eyes are under ar- rest, and a.collection of large'calibre revolvers of the latest design picked up in the streets and hallways are added to the police collection. The clash to-day was but a skirmish pickets of the On Leong and Ping Tongs. The main bodies were held apart by the speedy arrival of police reserves and will prooably occur some other day. But the skirmish was lively enough while it lasted. The Metz 12 H. P.
