Pentecostalists Freed to Go to Israel from Soviet Union
A family of 15 Pentecostalists departed Moscow for Vienna on a flight to Israel, five years after five members sought refuge in the US. Among them are Pyotr Vashchenko, 55, his wife Augustina, 54, their 12 children and daughter-in-law Ludmilla, with Lubov Vashchenko, 30, sister to Pyotr, declaring religious persecution as motive. American diplomats said a deal with Soviet authorities allowed their emigration.

West Coast grain pact could boost Southern Alberta farmers
A verbal agreement between the Grainworkers Union and West Coast terminals may boost grain movement to export ports in Southern Alberta. Alberta Terminal Ltd. manager Jim O Donnell said warehouses could empty by month’s end, easing start of the new crop year. Grain workers would gain $1 an hour, above federal guidelines, while some observers expect modest demand impact for feedmills and barley movement pending next rains.
