Finals Fair Time Hits Lethbridge Students

In Lethbridge during late June the city and district prepare for final departmental exams. 363 city high school students from the Collegiate and St Patrick's face exams from June 23 to 30, with grade twelve entries totaling 136 at the Collegiate and 23 at St Patrick's, plus 167 grade nine students. A 24 member staff will supervise, and Edmonton will mark papers with results due in August.

Calgary university regrets government funding refusal

The Calgary university committee records regret over the government action denying funds to make Calgary branch courses available to all first year students from Southern Alberta, expanding access beyond education faculty. Imperial Oil reports 22 producing wells in Leduc and Woodbend, with four completions in hand and one for independents, yielding an assured potential daily production of 10 850 barrels at 150 barrels per D-3 and 100 per D-2 wells.

Winnipeg conference on animal husbandry assistants ends

A two day meeting of Western Canada Dominion experimental farms animal husbandry assistants wrapped up in Winnipeg. Meeting Friday on Girls Residence in Lethbridge

Executive meeting sets date for June 28 officers vote

Lethbridge Community Council held a Monday night session reviewing past year activities. Plans were laid for the annual officer election on June 28. Kiwanis members at the Marquis hotel heard TC.A. John Wilton of Lethbridge and RCMP Insp. Bingham. Club president Insp. Maxted chaired. S. S. Graham requested Kiwanis help to handle the anticipated 400 fat cattle entries at the fair.

Rainfall Inland Alberta Drenches Many Areas

Southern Alberta saw widespread rainfall with Lethbridge at 1.42 inches for June and 3.16 inches year to date. Foremost and surrounding districts received lighter totals while Manyberries reported a heavy soaking. Roads remained rough with closures and detours on No. 2, No. 3, and No. 1 corridors as construction continues and weather cools.

Clarence Sturm Dies in Calgary Hospital at 35

Clarence Sturm, 35, of Medicine Hat, died in Calgary hospital. Born Irvine Alberta, he lived in Richmond Saskatchewan before moving to Medicine Hat to work in a pottery factory. He was a Lutheran and is survived by his widow Rose and his mother Mrs Sturm. Remains to Medicine Hat for services and interment.

Cutbank Beats Milk River 22 to 1 in Local Baseball

Cutbank ball players visited Milk River on Sunday and routed the home senior team 22 to 1. The Galata team failed to arrive, canceling the second game of the doubleheader. A large crowd attended the event.

Former Lethbridge Man Killed in Coleman Mine Accident
