Closing Exercises At Cardston Junior High

Cardston junior high held its first closing exercises Friday in the Second Ward chapel to honor 52 graduates. A banquet opened the event, with speeches from teacher and board members, musical solos, a chorus, and remarks urging graduates to pursue education, become good citizens, and contribute to peace, followed by a school dance in the gym.

Claresholm Man Is Laid To Rest

Severin Pedersen 55 died after a three year illness. Born in Jutland Denmark he came to Canada in 1916 lived Banff then Claresholm district farming until ill health. Survived by wife Elizabeth Yorgasen four sons Leonard James Charles Gary one brother in Nanaimo B C. Funeral at White Chapel with Bishop Geo Whitehead and Rev O H Haugen. interment in Claresholm cemetery.

Recent Graduate Byron Palmer Returns for Summer

Byron C Palmer, a recent State Agricultural College Logan Utah BSc irrigation engineering graduate, has returned to the city to summer with his parents Mr and Mrs A E Palmer. He studied at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and two years at the University of Alberta. Mr and Mrs Palmer and their daughter Mrs Eileen Palmer Smith attended the graduation.

Last Rites For Late Mrs. Prince

Funeral services were held in Cardston for Mrs Sarah Ellen Prince 75 a pioneer and mother of eight who died in Cardston hospital. The Beazer chapel was filled with family and friends as bishops and church leaders spoke of her resilience and faith. Interment followed at Beazer cemetery beside her husband James Prince. She was born December 14 1873 in Nephi Utah and moved to Canada in 1898. She leaves eight sons and one daughter 84 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren plus two sisters.

Raymond Lions to Operate Raymond Stampede

The Raymond Lions Club will run the annual stampede this year under new management. Karl Wilde becomes manager with Jack L. Evans as secretary. Board members include M T King Rulon Dahl J Golden Snow Jack Kenny Matt Ralph and Mayor William Jensen. Clark Lund is arena director. A big parade opens July 1 and the gala program is outlined.

Raymond School Work Displayed at High School

In Raymond the eighth to tenth grade home economics display showcased a variety of student crafts. Miss Pawlowsk praised the work seen in embroidery, sewing, and handicrafts while noting cooking was thoroughly taught but not on display. Lunch was served to visitors.

Raymond and New Dayton Legion Branches Meet Wednesday

The Raymond and New Dayton Legion branches will hold a joint general meeting in the Hungarian wall at Raymond on Wednesday June 9 at 8 pm. Paul Woolley will report on the Dominion convention in Saskatoon as a delegate for both branches. An executive session will precede the meeting to discuss July 1 plans and a parade float. An entertainment program with music games and refreshments will follow. The Raymond Memorial Building Fund shows ongoing growth, with a $22.50 addition from the Japanese Canadian Citizenship Association and previous totals of 1204.28 and 1246636 plus 188.18 from events.

Mr Prank Walls was on the sick list last week after two days of treatments in Lethe bridge. He is home again and feeling much better.
