Scotsman John Crawford named Alberta mines director

Airport Deluge Near City Sets May Rain Record

A southern Alberta rainstorm centered near the airport dumped 1.89 inches in 24 hours, the highest since 1902, helping May total reach 5.15 inches the wettest since 1927. The storm affected Lethbridge and districts east to Picture Butte and Coaldale while crop conditions improved across the area.

Isolationism Dead QUELFH Farm Leaders Say

Callis Death by Own Action Noted in Medicine Hat

In Medicine Hat 17 year old Margaret Callis died from a self inflicted gunshot. Coroner Dr Skinner announced no inquest will be held. Police court remanded Hay Valdez for sentencing after pleading guilty to inducing juvenile delinquency. Closing Of Peg Exchange Is Seen As Possibility

Winnipeg grain market watchers considered closing the Winnipeg Grain Exchange possible after the Canadian Wheat Board announced it would take over marketing of oats and barley. The move would leave the exchange trading only in rye and fax. President Stanley Jones and other exchange members declined comment until full details were released. George B. Crackdown on Narcotics Nets Six in Canada Ring

RCMP announced the most extensive narcotics crackdown in Canada. Nick Agostino and two others faced charges for conspiring to distribute heroin after arrests in Vancouver and Toronto.
