Cleveland dispatch reports a Green Co plant on 2nd Ave South burned with heavy loss. A separate note says Julius Z. Fapp's wayward house was found yesterday in North Olmsted, nine miles from where it was taken. Herman Kaserman confessed he moved it with the owner's permission.
The body of Walter Schoenenberger, missing since June 10, was found half submerged in the Goat River near Creston B C by Constable Cline on Friday. He carried $766. Officials believe death was accidental. an Indian alerted town authorities as the body shifted. An inquest is planned. Feast of Saint Anne draws thousands to Ste Anne de Beaupre Quebec.
British Food Minister Mr Strachey announces a scheme to extend herring use in margarine. Surplus fish to be processed into oil and meal at Fraserburgh Falkirk Aberdeen Hull and Grimsby with about 100 tons of oil and double that in meal for livestock. Cross national plan aims to reduce waste and aid livestock feed.
Fire destroyed the Geo. W. Green and Company alfalfa mill on Second Avenue South in Lethbridge shortly before noon Saturday. The two story building and its machinery were gutted and many tons of chopped alfalfa were lost. Fire crews fought flames for over an hour and a half, preventing spread to adjacent company buildings. Origin of the blaze remains undetermined.
A group of home-seekers halted their bid to invade a 300 acre royal estate believed as a potential honeymoon site for Princess Elizabeth and Lieut Philip Mountbatten. The halt followed the crown lands commissioner's order to repurpose 300 former RAF huts for local housing, ending the squatting plan amid privacy fears at the Berkshire Sunninghill Park estate.

United States and Soviet Union clash over interpretation of the UN charter as they oppose each other on creating an international Balkans commission. The dispute centers on whether the Security Council may investigate without consent and whether such actions are binding. Hershchel V. Johnson says council decisions bind all nations, while Andrei Gromyko warns sovereignty allows refusal to cooperate.
Joseph Kovach aged 52 a Picture Butte district farmer died after drinking lye in St Michaels hospital. Coroner Dr Magid with RCMP investigated and ruled no inquest. He was born in Hungary and lived in Picture Butte 16 years leaving a widow Elizabeth and four sons. Funeral arrangements by Christensen Brothers pending.
Grandview Missouri July 26 Mrs Martha Truman mother of the president died at 23 Gopan TO T today Her death followed a setback last week and an hour after the president had departed Washington to be with her Doctor Joseph Greene said she had been unconscious since last night but could converse yesterday and was alert then He telephoned the president this morning who flew to Grandview arriving expected between 3 30 and 4 pm CDT
Maj Gen Victor Odlum named Canadian ambassador extraordinary to Turkey by External Affairs Minister St Laurent. A veteran of Boer War and both World Wars, he previously served as high commissioner to Australia and ambassador to China, becoming Canada's first ambassador to Turkey.
Andrew J Mey former chairman of the house military committee and the Garsson brothers Henry and Murray were sentenced to eight months to two years in federal prison on war bribes charges. They were accused of paying and receiving 535,63407 in bribes to pressure the War Department and other agencies to aid the Garsson wartime munitions combine. Mey defended his actions as conscience free while legal counsel noted their financial strain.
The week ending July 19 saw 177 infantile paralysis cases in Great Britain the highest weekly total to date with nineteen cases and two deaths in London. A mountain ranger party returning from the glacier reported increasing danger from rock slides and crevasses, ending the present phase of the operation.
