La Paz reports upheaval fallout as surviving Vilarrroel regime members face trial as common criminals. Government audits funds for campaign spending while private properties of regime members are frozen. Casualties cited at about 1000 dead and 2000 wounded across four days of fighting ending Sunday.

Prof Auguste Piccard, famed high altitude explorer, plans a four mile dive in a steel sphere with 31/2 inch walls to study the seabed off the Gulf of Guinea. The Belgian project, funded by the National Scientific Research fund, uses a 15 ton spherical cabin and gasolene buoy, with ballast controlled by electromagnet. Each 12 hour dive aims to cover about 15 miles from the mother ship, aiding biologists and geologists.
In Jerusalem on July 4 tension rose as Arabs warned Britain to halt terrorism or Arabs would intervene. Rescue workers combed the King David hotel rubble after a bombing blamed on Irgun Zvai Leumi, with deaths, injuries, and many missing. British and Palestine police hunted Jewish underground leaders as a White Paper blamed Jewish Agency for recent violence, detailing arrests and suspected coordination around Hagana, Irgun, and Stern groups.

U S Terminal Leave Pay Washington July 24 The Senate passed legislation granting an estimated 2 000 000 000 to 43 990 000 000 in terminal leave pay for non commissioned personnel in the United States armed forces and those already discharged. Men discharged would receive compensation up to 120 days pay based on 2% days leave for each month of service. Officers already receive terminal leave pay.
July 4 New York A woman in a flowered dress caused a security stir on the Empire State Building observatory roof. Operators and guards watched as she showed nervous behavior but did not jump, prompting warnings that guiding staff must remain vigilant against possible suicide attempts at the world’s tallest station.
Algoma Steel Corp of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario testified before the Commons industrial relations committee that national bargaining is unsuitable. Director Gordon MacMillan said differences among the three companies make local negotiation preferable. Output and profits would be strained by higher offers, with eight cents more the limit. Steel production remains halted amid the strike.
The Palestine government denied Irgun Zvai Leumi claims that advance warning was given to government and military departments before Monday's King David hotel blast. The statement asserted no warning of any fire or impending explosion was received.
