Airwomen Arrive In Newfoundland For Royal Canadian Air Force

Mrs. Mabel Johnson a 35 year old grocery store owner from St James a Winnipeg suburb remains in critical condition in hospital after a youth aged 18 shot her during a botched robbery. Police have detained the suspect who admitted being in trouble and needing money and threatened a neighbor.

Woman Helps Victim as Man Threatens with Gun

Mrs. Fanny Hamilton helped Mrs. Johnson after she staggered from a store and collapsed on the street. The assailant yelled at Hamilton to leave Johnson alone and brandished a gun before fleeing. Johnson is a mother of two and wife of aircraft plant worker F Millard Johnson.

Mrs. A. Y. Forster Laid to Rest in Macleod Funeral

Funeral services for Mrs. Amy Vida Forster were held in Macleod on July 16 with Rev. Y. M. Gilbert officiating and interment in the family plot. Born in England 69 years ago, she lived in Allenfield and Victoria before returning last year as health declined. She is survived by a brother John Edgars of Allenfield and a brother-in-law Robert Etherington plus several nieces.
