Train Crash Kills 10 in Santa Fe Collision
Ten passengers died and 50 to 75 were injured in a freak head on like collision of two Santa Fe streamliners the El Capitan and the Kansas City Chief near Monica NL about 20 miles east of Alesburg. The mail car was travelling about 90 mph and the Chief about 70 mph when derailment triggered destruction on parallel tracks. Both trains were en route to Chicago under automatic control.

Not Serious Situation for U S Ground Forces in Korea
General MacArthur’s headquarters told the U S defence department that American ground forces in Korea were not in a serious situation.
